Ken "DJ Mojo" Figueroa
DJ Mojo
host of Mojo's Radio Show
every Thursday @ 8pm eastern

Ken Figueroa started DJing at the young age of 14 in Staten Island, NY. Unable to afford DJ equipment, he mixed his first two years with friends. Then a kind family member floated him a loan, this is where the journey started and he fell in love with the art of DJing, and most importantly, house music.

Playing Marshall Jefferson, Chip E, Fast Eddie, and many of Chicago Trax Records was tough sell in NYC. Many hours of playing records and not having much of a life outside of the two turntables and crates of records purchased with newspaper route money, the craft was constructed.

For ten years, he played in front of crowds for weddings and various other parties, this is where he learned the master of the mix and the ability to look at a crowd and know what they want. He continued to experiment different ways of blending records without much notice from the people dancing that the song had changed.

The many ventures in his life lead him to L.A. for one year where he started playing lounges and small clubs. The west coast was not like the east coast, so he ventured into hip-hop and R&B to keep getting steady live gigs.

He then started getting gigs in San Francisco, San Jose, and Texas (Cyberfest, Hoodman Rave and DJing on Wild 94.9). After returning to NYC, he ventured into lounges and small venues playing downtempo and jazz house at places like Centro Fly, The Boiler Room, and Faluka.

After September 11th, his 9-5 job working as a desktop engineer fixing computers for an insurance company relocated him to Chicago.

After almost three years in Chicago where Ken has played venues such as Sushi Wabi, Hard Drive Jet, Funky Buddah Lounge and Hoggs and Honey's, he's back in NYC where it all began. Listening to a set by Ken is definitely worth your time with all the different blends of music he can fit in a lounge/dance/tribal rhythm set.

DJ Ken Figueroa was born July 26th, 1970 in Brooklyn New York.
